The Kwara State Government has commissioned several multi-million Naira projects in Ilorin South Local Government Area, demonstrating its commitment to grassroots development across key sectors.
Speaking during the official commissioning, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata, commended the Executive Chairman of Ilorin South LGA, Hon. Nuhu Abdulmajeed, for what he described as people-centered and impactful projects.
“I have visited several Councils recently, but I am particularly impressed with the quality and relevance of the projects executed in Ilorin South,” Hon. Bata said. “Even more heartwarming is the massive turnout and appreciation from members of the benefiting communities.”
The Commissioner highlighted that the commissioned projects cut across vital sectors such as water provision, healthcare, education, and rural electrification. He urged other local councils in the state to emulate Ilorin South in the choice and execution of development projects that directly benefit citizens.
He added, “Imitating is never an offence, especially when it’s positive. I encourage other councils to borrow a leaf from Ilorin South’s playbook.”
Hon. Bata also lauded the synergy between the executive and legislative arms of the Council, describing it as key to fostering sustainable development. He called on the benefiting communities to safeguard the projects for long-term use.
In his address, Hon. Nuhu Abdulmajeed expressed appreciation to the state government and the Commissioner for their support. He noted that the projects were initiated to replicate the giant strides of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and fulfill campaign promises to constituents.
He appealed to communities yet to benefit to exercise patience, assuring them that their needs would be addressed as resources become available.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Iyabo Modupe Adekeye, also commended the Council’s leadership, urging them to remain compliant with procurement laws in future project executions.
Projects commissioned include the drilling and installation of a motorized borehole at Olomoda Community, electrification and installation of a 500KVA transformer at Adunbarin Community, reconstruction of the Primary Health Centre at Ajibesin, and the construction of modern toilets at Tanke Market.
Others are the drilling of a motorized borehole at Fate, renovation and furnishing of GDJSS Zango Eleboto School, renovation of classrooms at Oke-Aluko Primary School, and the metering and energizing of a 100KVA transformer at Olufadi Maternal Referral Centre. The AGF AbdulRazaq Shopping Complex at Offa Garage was also commissioned.
The event drew large crowds from the host communities, reflecting strong local support for the government’s development initiatives.
