This milestone marks a significant development in the Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State.
The Emir’s ancestry is rooted in the founding fathers of Ilorin. His great-great-grandfather, grandfather, and father were all Emirs, and his mother was the daughter of an Emir. This rich heritage has shaped his leadership style and commitment to his people.
Throughout his career, the Emir has demonstrated exceptional leadership and statesmanship. Before becoming the Emir in 1995, he was a distinguished judge and lawyer. He served as a Justice of the Court of Appeal and interacted with notable Nigerians, including General Sani Abacha, President Bola Tinubu, General Ibrahim Babangida, General Joshua Dongoyaro, and others.
As Emir, he has promoted peace, unity, and development in Ilorin. His tenure has been marked by significant growth, with the town expanding to neighbouring villages and new settlements emerging. The Emir’s emphasis on love, unity, and wealth generation has been a guiding principle for his people.
Beyond his Emirate, Dr. Gambari has contributed to national life. He was a pioneer head of the Arewa Consultative Forum and a delegate to the national constitutional conference under the Jonathan government. He has also served as Pro-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, and Bayero University, Kano.
The Emir’s legacy extends beyond his official duties. He has mentored many, including Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed and has shown remarkable compassion and wisdom. His leadership style is characterized by peaceful resolution of conflicts and a commitment to the welfare of his subjects.
As we celebrate his 85th birthday, we appeal for more support and cooperation to enable him to achieve his lofty goals.
