The Kwara State Government has announced that schools across the state will reopen on Monday, February 2, 2026, following improved security conditions.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, assuring residents that the decision was taken after careful assessment of the ongoing security situation.
According to him, school authorities have already been notified of the resumption directive, which comes amid sustained security operations aimed at neutralising threats to public safety, including schools.
“The government deems the situation now to be a lot better than it was before. Even so, we continue to maintain vigilance,” Olohungbebe said.
He noted that security operations remain steady to consolidate the gains recorded in recent weeks, adding that the government is also working to strengthen community resilience alongside ongoing kinetic efforts.
