Nigerians, especially political office holders, have been tasked with being committed to equity, fairness, and justice to achieve sustainable nation-building.
The Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Muhydeen Salman, gave the charge while speaking on the topic ‘Exploring the Islamic Model for Unity, Equity, and Fairness in Nation Building’ at the annual Ramadan Lecture organized by the Friends and Associates of the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, in Ilorin.
Quoting from the Qur’an and Hadith, Sheikh Salman explained that the question of equity, fairness, and justice is non-negotiable, stressing that it is compulsory to obey the instructions of the Almighty in order to have felicity in this world and on the day of accountability.
Commenting on the leadership qualities of the honoree, the Chief Imam of Offa noted that the atmosphere and the number of dignitaries present showed that Hon. Saliu Yakubu Danladi is a leader who has led with fairness and inclusivity. He has solved many problems, and he has always done things with fairness and equity.
Leading a special prayer for the Kwara State Governor, His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, and his government, the Imam Imale of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Abdulhameed Abdullahi, commended the governor for his massive and unprecedented development across the state and prayed for the success of his administration.
The Imam Imale of Ilorin also prayed for Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, whose friends and associates are rooting for to emerge as first democratically elected Governor of Kwara state from Kwara North since return of democracy in 1999, come 2027.
The Chief Imam of Shao, Barrister Adam Jamiu, offered a special prayer for the late parents of Rt. Hon. Speaker Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, praying that Allah would continue to shower His blessings on their souls and rest them in Aljanat Firdaus.
The member representing Magaji Ngeri constituency, Hon. Abdulkadir Oba Magaji, in a remark, described the Speaker as a good leader and a worthy successor to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, stressing that the entire members of the Tenth Legislature in the state and their constituents are fully behind him for the 2027 governorship.
The program, organized by the friends of SYD was attended by Islamic clerics and scholars, present and past members of the Kwara State House of Assembly, cabinet and APC members, Youths, Technocrats across the three senatorial districts of Kwara State
