Ilorin, June 10, 2026 – Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has congratulated Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki on his appointment as the new Chief Imam Fulani of the Ilorin Emirate, describing him as a fitting choice for the important religious position.
In a statement issued on Wednesday night, the Governor also commended the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for selecting the 42-year-old Islamic scholar to assume the leadership role.
AbdulRazaq said the appointment of the young and vibrant Al-Azhar-trained scholar reflects the commitment of the Ilorin Emirate to fostering inclusiveness and engaging different segments of the Muslim community in the pursuit of development and societal progress.
“The choice of a young and vibrant Azhari scholar as the new Chief Imam Fulani reflects the commitment of our community, which His Royal Highness symbolises, to continue to mobilise different demographies of the Muslim Ummah for greater good and development,” the Governor said.
He prayed for divine guidance, protection, good health, and long life for Sheikh Dasuki as he assumes his new responsibilities.
“I ask Allaah to guide and protect the new Chief Imam, perfect His blessings upon him, and give him long life and good health in the service of the Ummah,” the Governor added.
AbdulRazaq also urged members of the community to support the new Chief Imam in the overall interest of unity, peace, and development within the Ilorin Emirate and the wider Muslim community.
The appointment marks a significant milestone for the Ilorin Emirate, with stakeholders expressing optimism that Sheikh Dasuki’s youthful energy and scholarly background will contribute positively to religious leadership and community development.
