The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Dr. Rafiu Ajakaye, has pledged to provide effective, accessible and people-centred representation while attracting more development projects and opportunities to the constituency if elected.
Ajakaye made the commitment on Tuesday during an appearance on a programme on Diamond FM, Ilorin, where he outlined his vision for the constituency and expressed confidence in his chances of winning the 2027 election.
The former Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor said his approach to legislative representation would be anchored on regular engagement with constituents and responsiveness to their needs.
He stressed that effective representation requires a representative who listens to the people, understands their concerns and consistently communicates with them.
“I will be a good representative of the people of Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency. I am a good listener, and I will engage my people regularly, listen to their feedback and work to attract developmental projects to the constituency,” he said.
Ajakaye said his experience in public service had equipped him with the necessary understanding of governance, communication and community engagement required to represent the constituency effectively at the National Assembly.
Speaking on the political landscape ahead of the 2027 election, he described the APC as the dominant political party in Kwara State, attributing its strength to its grassroots structure and connection with the people.
He also expressed confidence in defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon. Moshood Bakare, at the polls.
Ajakaye said he would rely on his integrity, record of public service and relationship with the people rather than merely campaign rhetoric.
“We have done well, and I believe my integrity and track record will work in my favour,” he stated.
He also pointed to what he described as internal challenges within the PDP, while raising questions about the certainty of some opposition candidates making it to the final ballot in 2027.
The APC candidate urged voters across Ifelodun, Offa and Oyun to assess candidates based on their character, integrity, experience and record of service.
He assured constituents that, if elected, he would remain accessible and maintain regular interaction with the people, while pursuing federal projects, programmes and opportunities capable of improving infrastructure, empowering young people and women, and enhancing the socio-economic wellbeing of residents.
Ajakaye said his ambition was not merely to occupy a seat in the House of Representatives but to use the position to provide purposeful representation and attract tangible development to the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency.
He therefore called on the electorate to support a representation model that prioritises listening, accountability, accessibility and measurable development.
