The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) issued certificates of return to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, his deputy Mr. Kayode Alabi, and the 24 newly elected state lawmakers on Tuesday in Ilorin, the state’s capital.
Prof. Sanni Adam (SAN), INEC National Commissioner for Kogi, Kwara, and Niger States, who presided over the ceremony, said the 2023 general elections will be remembered as one of the best elections ever held in Nigeria and that the process was peaceful, particularly in Kwara State.
He offered his congratulations to the Governor and the other elected representatives.
“The elections that resulted in this success will be remembered as some of the best ever held in Nigeria. It was not only successful but also incredibly calm, and we are glad to state so without any reservation.
He stated, “I congratulate the reelected Governor of the State of Kwara, his deputy, and all the House of Assembly members-elect present today on their wins.
Governor AbdulRazaq told Kwarans in his statements that he would continue to be just as receptive and sympathetic to the needs of the people as he has always been.
“This award is a testament to the people of Kwara State’s decision to advance their goal for sustainable development. It represents their faith in our work to create a state where everyone has an equal stake. I do not regard this trust as a given.
In a succinct acceptance address, he said, “I am guaranteeing our people that our government will continue to be sympathetic, inclusive, and responsive as our resources permit.
Governor AbdulRazaq was escorted to the ceremony by his wife, Ambassador Olufolake, cabinet members, Baba AbdulRazaq, the Mutawali of Ilorin, Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, and other high government officials.
The State’s security chiefs, including the Police Commissioner, attended the event as well as Paul Odama.
