Recently, A clash between youths from two communities in Ilorin, Kwara State, made some youths destroy over 25 cars.

The incident reportedly occurred due to a disagreement between two rival youth leaders from Itamerin and Ode Popo communities over their romantic involvement with a Junior Secondary School 2 student, Aisha.

According to Alhaji AbdulRazaq, a community leader in Ode Popo, the incident began around 1:30 am on Saturday when the youth groups gathered to mobilize themselves.

The process led to the destruction of over 25 vehicles before the police were alerted, forcing the suspects, mostly teenagers, to flee.

One of the residents, Omotayo revealed that Aisha was arrested by the police on Sunday morning while the two group leaders, Ismail, and his rival, have gone into hiding following the violent confrontation.

At the time of filing this report, the police from G Division, Oloje, were still in the communities arresting suspects.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Oloje police station, Dare Afonja, confirmed the incident, but he did not provide any further details.

The authorities have, however, assured the residents of the two communities that they would do everything possible to ensure that the perpetrators of the violence are identified, apprehended, and brought to justice.

They also urged the residents to refrain from taking the laws into their hands and avoid any form of violence or retaliation.
