Man Nabbed For Stealing Neighbour’s N22,000 Battery
A man accused of stealing his neighbour’s tricycle battery was brought before an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court on Monday by the Ekiti State Police Command.
The man, Sunday Adesina, 26, allegedly committed the theft on August 11 at Omi-Olori Street in Ado-Ekiti, according to the police prosecutor, ASP Celeb Leramo.
The court heard that the battery, which belonged to Ajayi Olaniyi of the same address, was worth N22,000 and that the offence contravened Section 295, 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.
The defendant’s counsel, Emmanuel Sunmonu, pleaded with the court to grant his client bail, assuring that he would not abscond and that he would provide a reliable surety.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, granted the bail request of N25,000, with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to August 17 for further hearing.
