Ilorin Emirate youth groups have endorsed Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, Speaker of the state assembly as APC’s 2027 candidate while affirming that it is Kwara North’s turn to produce the next governor.
At a joint press conference in Ilorin, the Ilorin Emirate Dynamic Youth Initiative and the Ilorin Emirate Youth Progressive for Communities said the endorsement is based on equity, fairness, and balanced representation.
They argued that since 1999, Kwara Central has held the governorship for 20 years and Kwara South for 8 years, while Kwara North is yet to produce a governor in the current democracy.
The groups called Danladi’s aspiration “a legitimate quest for inclusion, justice, and balanced representation” and a reciprocation of Kwara North’s historical support for Kwara Central.
On the APC Governorship candidate, the youth groups highlighted Danladi’s profile as a young leader, engineer, former lecturer, and Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly for nearly 8 years. They added that his background shows competence and puts him in a position to advance youth inclusion and empowerment.
They warned that sidelining any region risks social tension and weakens cohesion. “Supporting Kwara North at this time is a strategic investment in the unity and future development of Kwara State,” they said.
The Ilorin Emirate Youths concluded by calling on APC stakeholders, party leaders, and Kwara residents to back Danladi to ensure Kwara North produces the next governor in 2027.
