Sardauna of Ilorin Cup: Mogaji Presents Cash Prizes as Organizers Pledge More Initiatives

 

The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, today, January 7, 2025, presented cash prizes to the winners of the Sardauna of Ilorin Football Championship.

In a ceremony celebrating grassroots football development, Mogaji presented the cash prizes to the teams based on their final standings. Asa Local Government emerged as the tournament champions, receiving ₦500,000. Offa Local Government, the runner-up, was awarded ₦300,000, while Oyun Local Government, which secured third place, received ₦200,000.

Speaking before the prize presentation, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Owolabi Agbaji Wopa, emphasized that the tournament was not just about cash rewards but also about youth engagement, empowerment, and development. He revealed that some local government chairmen had pledged to sponsor outstanding players at the Kwara Football Academy, offering them further exposure and opportunities to advance their careers.

Additionally, talented players from all participating local governments have been selected to form an ALGON team for Kwara State, a model successfully implemented in other states.

He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the championship and assured that more initiatives would be planned to promote youth and sports development in the state.

Representing the Executive Governor of Kwara State at the event, Mallam Mogaji commended the organizers for their dedication to grassroots football. He also offered constructive feedback to enhance future editions of the tournament.

In his closing remarks, the Kwara State Sports Commission Chairman reaffirmed his commitment to sports development, assuring that with a sports-loving governor at the helm, Kwara State would continue to witness growth and investment in the sector.
