Gov AbdulRazaq Hails Tinubu Over Arrest of Terrorist Leaders, Assures Kwarans of Safety

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigeria’s security agencies for the arrest of top commanders of terrorist groups, describing it as a major breakthrough in the nation’s fight against insecurity.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the Governor commended the intelligence-driven operations that led to the capture of Mahmud Muhammad Usman, leader of the Ansaru terrorist sect, and his deputy, Mahmud al-Nigeri (popularly known as Malam Mahmuda).

“These arrests are a big win for the country. We commend the President, the National Security Adviser, and the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Police, and other security agencies for this feat. On our part, we will continue to support the efforts of the President and security agencies on all fronts,” the Governor said.

Governor AbdulRazaq reassured residents of Kwara that his administration is working closely with security agencies to eliminate threats and safeguard communities. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to relevant authorities.

“Nondisclosures or limited disclosures of specific security information or operations are not borne out of inaction or lack of concern,” the Governor added. “A lot is being done in collaboration with security agencies, resulting in valuable intelligence gathering, arrests, and prevention of attacks.”

The Governor further disclosed that additional security personnel, including forest guards, are being deployed to strengthen safety in vulnerable areas. He also directed the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) to immediately compile an inventory of persons affected by recent security incidents for support, working closely with community leaders to ensure accountability.

AbdulRazaq assured residents that no resources are being spared to protect lives and property in the state, stressing that renewed efforts are underway to curtail the activities of criminal elements in the hinterlands.
