Governor AbdulRazaq Meets Edu, Patigi Stakeholders on Security, Vows Justice and Support for Victims

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has revealed ongoing plans to establish a civilian task force to complement the efforts of security agencies in curbing rising cases of kidnapping and violent attacks in Edu and Patigi local government areas of the state.

In a social media post on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, the Governor disclosed that he held an emergency meeting with stakeholders from the two LGAs to review the current security situation and chart sustainable responses to the threats.

Governor AbdulRazaq said the proposed task force will be recruited from local communities, trained, supported, and strategically aligned with security agencies to strengthen defence mechanisms against criminal attacks.

“The details will be worked on, fine-tuned, and subjected to strategic consultation with different stakeholders for success and sustainability. This will complement what we currently have,” the Governor said.

The meeting also addressed the need to support victims of recent attacks, with the Governor pledging personal visits to the affected communities as a mark of solidarity and commitment.

Beyond security, discussions also touched on boosting funding and infrastructure for the College of Education (Technical), Lafiagi, and finding solutions to persistent power supply challenges in the area.

The Governor’s engagement came just hours after he returned from Oke Ode in Ifelodun LGA, where he paid condolences following the killing of some forest guards, local hunters, and community leaders in a recent attack on Sunday, September 28.

Governor AbdulRazaq vowed justice for the victims and urged residents of Kwara to take collective responsibility in safeguarding lives and communities.

“They will not die in vain. Beyond our solidarity and planned support for their families, we will not spare the criminals behind their deaths,” he said.
