The Kwara State Government has announced a temporary shutdown of the Kwara Garment Factory to allow for pre-handover maintenance and inventory checks following the emergence of a new management team.
According to a statement released by the Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology (BIT), Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, the development follows the recent advertisement and bidding process for the outsourcing of the factory’s management in line with public procurement regulations.
Hon. Adelodun disclosed that a preferred bidder has emerged after a transparent selection process, paving the way for a smooth transition of operational control to the successful management firm.
During this transition period, all civil servants seconded to the garment factory have been directed to return to their respective ministries. Similarly, trainees at the factory are advised to apply to the new management for possible engagement once operations resume.
The commissioner added that all trainees will receive a one-month training allowance as part of the government’s commitment to their welfare during the handover process.
The Kwara Garment Factory, one of the major industrial initiatives under the state’s innovation and job creation drive, is expected to resume operations after the completion of the ongoing maintenance and inventory exercise.
