KDG Hails Ilorin West Chairman’s Investment in Human Capital, Urges Other Councils to Follow Suit

The Kwara Development Group (KDG) has applauded the Executive Chairman of Ilorin West Local Government, Hon. Shehu Abdulrahman Babatunde Ladan, for his outstanding commitment to human capital development through education.
The commendation follows Hon. Ladan’s sponsorship of 35 qualified students from Ilorin West Local Government to pursue degree programs at the Kwara State University of Education (KWASUED) for four consecutive years — a gesture the group described as visionary and people-centered.
In a statement signed by its President, Olaide Ahli, the group noted that the initiative aligns perfectly with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s ongoing reforms in the education sector, which aim to make education the foundation for sustainable development across the state.
KDG praised Hon. Ladan for ensuring that the selection process was based on merit, discipline, and accountability, as well as for introducing a bond of conduct to guide beneficiaries on moral uprightness, integrity, and responsible behavior throughout their academic journey.
“Hon. Ladan has set a commendable standard in local governance by translating political leadership into practical empowerment. His decision to invest in education rather than short-term relief efforts is a clear reflection of his understanding that true development begins with the mind,” the statement read in part.
The group also commended the Ilorin West Legislative Council, local government staff, and education stakeholders for supporting the initiative, describing it as a project capable of producing future leaders, professionals, and innovators from the community.
KDG, however, called on other local government chairmen across Kwara State to emulate Hon. Ladan’s forward-thinking approach by prioritizing education and youth empowerment in their development plans.
“If every local government adopts similar educational interventions, Kwara will, within a few years, witness a new generation of skilled, enlightened, and morally upright citizens capable of driving the state’s progress,” KDG stated.
The group reaffirmed its readiness to continue partnering with government institutions and community leaders to promote education, youth empowerment, and sustainable development across Kwara State.
