The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, has praised the Super Eagles following their 2–1 victory over Tanzania in a Group Stage encounter at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The match was played on 23 December 2025 at the Fes Sports Complex, Morocco, where Nigeria secured a crucial win to strengthen their position in the group.
Speaking after the match, Mallam Mogaji commended the Super Eagles for their composure and dominance, particularly their ability to control possession throughout the game. He noted that although the team did not score many goals, their ball retention and overall game management gave him strong confidence in Nigeria’s chances at the tournament.
“Even though the goals were not many, the Super Eagles controlled the game with possession. That gives me confidence that if this spirit continues and improves, Nigeria can go on to win the 2025 AFCON,” Mogaji said.
He also described the atmosphere inside the stadium as remarkable, revealing that Moroccan fans openly showed support for the Super Eagles during the match.
“One surprising aspect of the match was the level of support from the Moroccans. They were fully behind Nigeria and even expressed their desire to see the Super Eagles reach the final,” he added.
While praising the team’s performance, the Kwara Sports Commission boss urged the Super Eagles to improve their goal-scoring efficiency, cautioning against relying on slim one-goal margins regardless of match tempo.
“The team must be more clinical in front of goal and avoid depending on narrow leads, no matter how well they dominate possession,” he advised.
Mallam Mogaji further shared his personal experience of watching the match live, describing it as a special moment.
“Watching the Super Eagles is always sweet, but watching them live is even sweeter. This is not my first time following Nigerian teams abroad. I can travel anywhere in support of Nigerian sports,” he stated.
The Super Eagles’ victory over Tanzania has boosted optimism among fans and stakeholders as Nigeria continues its quest for a fourth continental title at the AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
