Kwara State once again demonstrated its rising dominance in youth sports as six-year-old Abdulsalam Yusuf, the youngest athlete at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, clinched a gold medal in scrabble.
The prodigious talent attributed his remarkable success to determination, rigorous training, and, most importantly, the unwavering support of the Kwara State Government under the leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji.
Speaking with newsmen after his historic win, Yusuf revealed that his passion for scrabble stemmed from the logical reasoning and technical depth of the game. He expressed his aspiration to continue representing Kwara State in both national and international Scrabble championships.
The young champion lauded Governor Abdulrazaq and Coach Mogaji for creating an enabling environment that nurtures grassroots sports development in Kwara, describing their support as instrumental in providing him the rare opportunity to showcase his skills on the national stage.
