Badminton President, Orbih Hails Gov AbdulRazaq For Transforming Kwara’s Sports Landscape

The President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), Francis Orbih, has commended AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Executive Governor of Kwara State, for his sustained commitment to sports development, declaring the state fully prepared to host national and international sporting events.
Orbih made this declaration on Saturday, January 3, 2026, after inspecting the newly renovated Indoor Sports Hall in Ilorin. He described the facility as one of the best rehabilitated indoor sports halls he has seen globally, noting that it meets and even exceeds the basic requirements for hosting elite-level badminton and other indoor sporting competitions.
The BFN President conducted the inspection during a guided tour led by the Director of Sports, Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Ibrahim Bako, alongside the Technical Director of the BFN, Mallam Tunde Kazeem, and former Director of Sports, Hammed Adio, former Vice Chairperson of Kwara State Badminton Association, Mrs Kemi Babatunde among other sports stakeholders.
“What we have seen here today is impressive. The hall is well renovated, spacious, and competition-ready. From my assessment, Kwara State is fully prepared to host national and even international events,” Orbih stated.
He emphasized that the quality of the renovation reflects the vision and deliberate investment of the AbdulRazaq-led administration in sports infrastructure, positioning Kwara as a rising hub for major sporting activities in Nigeria.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, the Director of Sports, Mallam Ibrahim Bako, reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering support for sports development. He assured stakeholders that the government remains committed to the continuous maintenance and effective utilisation of the facility.
Bako explained that the rehabilitation of the Indoor Sports Hall aligns with Governor AbdulRazaq’s broader agenda of reviving sports infrastructure, promoting youth engagement, and creating a conducive environment for athletes to train, compete, and excel.
The inspection further reinforces Kwara State’s growing reputation as a destination for sporting excellence, driven by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to infrastructure renewal and sustainable sports development.
