Kwara to Host Inter-Local Government U-15 Schools Championship, July 27th to August 5th

The Kwara State Sports Commission is pleased to announce the commencement of the Inter-Local Government U-15 Secondary Schools Championship, scheduled to hold from Monday, July 27 to Wednesday, August 5, 2026, across designated venues within Ilorin, the state capital.

Organized in collaboration with the Future Field Team and supported by the Kwara State Government, the championship is designed to promote grassroots sports development, talent discovery, and youth engagement across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.

The tournament will feature two major sporting events:

Football (Boys)

Volleyball (Girls)

The Opening Ceremony is slated for July 27, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Centenary College, Ilorin, by 10:00 a.m., while the Dinner and Prize Award Night will take place on August 5, 2026, at the Banquet Hall, opposite the Government House, Ilorin, by 5:00 p.m.

Speaking ahead of the championship, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to nurturing young talents and strengthening school sports as a foundation for elite athletic performance.

“This championship represents a strategic investment in the future of sports in Kwara State. It provides a platform for identifying promising athletes at an early stage while fostering unity, discipline, and healthy competition among our youths,” he stated.

The Commission also acknowledged the support of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, and the First Lady, Her Excellency Amb. Prof. Olufolake AbdulRazaq, for their continuous commitment to youth and sports development in the state.

Participation is strictly by invitation, with all Local Government Areas expected to present teams comprising eligible secondary school students under the age of 15.

The Kwara State Sports Commission calls on stakeholders, school authorities, and sports enthusiasts to support and participate in this landmark grassroots initiative aimed at building the next generation of sporting champions.
