The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Kwara State Chapter, congratulates the Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, on his turbaning as the Sardauna of Ilorin by the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR.
The honour acknowledges the Governor’s public service and contributions to the development of Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State.
As the umbrella association of information technology professionals in Nigeria, the NCS recognises the administration’s attention to ICT, innovation and technology-enabled public service delivery.
A major initiative is the Ilorin Innovation Hub, which provides facilities, digital-skills training, mentorship, incubation and acceleration for innovators and entrepreneurs. Through partnerships with IHS Nigeria, Co-Creation Hub, Future Africa and others, the Hub has showcased 19 startups, facilitated approximately ₦119 million in non-dilutive funding and is training 171 emerging artificial-intelligence engineers.
The Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme has expanded from about 700 students at six centres to more than 5,800 students in 54 public schools across the 16 local government areas. KwaraLEARN has similarly introduced digital tools and data into lesson delivery, teacher support, attendance monitoring and school administration.
The Society also notes the digitisation of teacher recruitment and staff-promotion exercises through online applications, electronic document submission, automated screening and computer-based testing. Promotion exercises for TESCOM and SUBEB staff now use online documentation and CBT centres across the three senatorial districts.
Key aspects of BECE and the Basic Six placement examination have also been digitised, including candidate registration, Continuous Assessment submission, and central oversight. The placement examination is fully sponsored by the state government for registered pupils.
Other relevant interventions include digital land administration through KW-GIS; the residents’ database and State Security Identification number introduced through KWASRRA; support for broadband infrastructure; and entrepreneurship training and interest-free financing through Kwapreneur.
These initiatives reflect the growing application of technology to education, entrepreneurship and government administration in Kwara State. The NCS encourages the government to consolidate them through wider broadband access, stronger cybersecurity and data protection, greater digital inclusion and sustained support for indigenous technology companies.
On behalf of our executive and members, we congratulate His Excellency and pray that Almighty Allah grants him wisdom, strength and good health as he continues to serve Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State and Nigeria.
Congratulations, Your Excellency.
