Seven-Year-Old Wonder Kid Yusuf Abdulsalam, Other Kwarans Join Team Nigeria for World Youth Championship
Kwara State’s representatives have arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, as part of the Team Nigeria contingent for the historic World Youth Scrabble Championship, which is being hosted in Africa for the first time.
The contingent includes seven-year-old scrabble sensation Yusuf Abdulsalam, who continues to make headlines as one of Nigeria’s brightest young talents. Yusuf became the youngest medalist at the National Youth Games in Asaba and has since won several national scrabble tournaments.
Other Kwara representatives in the Team Nigeria contingent are Aliu Olawale AbdulQudus, Olosun Khalid, and Olojoku Hassan Olamide. Also accompanying the team are Coach AbdulRafiu Olojoku Hassan and the Secretary of the Kwara State Scrabble Association, Mrs. Yusuf Mardiyat A.
Reacting to the team’s arrival in Nairobi, Mrs. Yusuf Mardiyat expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for sponsoring the participation of the Kwara representatives and for his unwavering commitment to sports development in the state.
She also commended the Kwara State Sports Commission, led by its Executive Chairman, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, for its continuous support and commitment to the growth of sports, particularly scrabble, in Kwara State.
Mrs. Yusuf expressed confidence that the Kwara representatives, alongside their teammates in Team Nigeria, would make both Kwara State and Nigeria proud at the championship.
