The maiden Kwara Central Track and Field Championship, organized in honour of the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, concluded on a high note on Wednesday, April 30, 2026, at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl of the George Agbazika Innih Stadium, Ilorin.
The three-day championship, which began on April 28, brought together secondary school athletes from across Kwara Central, who competed in various track and field events, showcasing young talents and rekindling the spirit of school sports in the state.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the President of the Association of School Sports Officials, Kwara State Chapter, Mr. Moses, expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his unwavering commitment to sports development. He commended the administration for its continued investment in the sports sector without neglecting other critical areas of governance.
Mr. Moses emphasized that the championship was designed to revive school sports, discover emerging talents, and celebrate a distinguished sports administrator whose contributions have significantly shaped the sector in Kwara State. He described Coach Mogaji as a “legend of legends” who has consistently prioritized sports development.
He also acknowledged the presence and support of dignitaries, organizing committee members, and participating schools whose contributions ensured the success of the event.
In his remarks, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, who represented the state government, appreciated the organizers for initiating the championship and successfully executing it with the support of the government. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to sustaining sports development across the state.
Delivering the Governor’s message, Coach Mogaji assured stakeholders that the present administration will continue to support initiatives that promote grassroots sports and youth development.
The championship ended with renewed enthusiasm for school sports in Kwara Central, as stakeholders expressed optimism about the discovery of new talents and the future of athletics in the state.
