National Honour for Kwara as Falilat AbdulRasaq and Coach Lawal Lukman Receive Nigeria Call-Up

Kwara State has recorded another major milestone in cycling development as the Cycling Federation of Nigeria has invited Kwara State cycling coach, Coach Lawal Lukman, to serve as one of the coaches that will lead Team Nigeria to the Tour du Benin and the International Tour of Angola, scheduled to take place from 24 April to 5 May 2026.
The invitation is seen as a recognition of Coach Lukman’s commitment and technical contribution to the growth of cycling in Kwara State and Nigeria at large.
In another positive development, Kwara cyclist Abdulrasaq Falilat was also invited to participate in the National Track Cycling Championships and Para-Cycling Track Championships, which served as the selection trials for athletes that will represent Nigeria at the CAC Track Cycling Championships.
Following an impressive performance at the trials, Falilat successfully secured qualification to represent Nigeria at the championship scheduled to hold in Abuja in May 2026.
The twin achievements have been described as a proud moment for the state and further proof of the steady progress being made in cycling development under the leadership of the Kwara State Sports Commission and the Kwara State Cycling Association.
Speaking on the development, Cycling Secretary Junaid Azeez congratulated all stakeholders involved in the success.

The latest achievements further strengthen Kwara State’s growing reputation as one of Nigeria’s emerging hubs for cycling excellence.
